Fennel Seed Tea For Infants ~

Fennel is a gentle antigas, antispasmodic; relieves colic, gas and bloating in both humans and their animal companions. It is also good for chronic indigestion, increases appetite in finicky animals, reduces bad breath, belching, and acts as an antibacterial in the mouth. To use you can add a small amount of fennel directly to food, or add a small amount of fennel seed tea to drinking water.

Did you know that in In a 2011 research review published in the journal Pediatrics that scientists analyzed 15 clinical trials on the use of complementary and alternative medicines in treatment of colic? The review's authors found "some encouraging results" for fennel.

  Clinical trials on the use of fennel for colic include a 2003 study published in Alternative Therapies in Health and
Medicine. For the study, 125 infants (ages 2 to 12 weeks) were given either a fennel seed oil or a placebo. Study results showed that use of fennel eliminated colic in 65 percent of infants in the treatment group (compared to 23.7 percent of infants in the placebo group).
 

To make Fennel Tea ~ Use 1 tsp of Fennel to 1 cup of hot water. Let steep for 10 minuntes and strain. This tea works for adults and infants.






 Fennel Tea is a traditional remedy for colic. You may give a tea made from fennel seed ~  You may give the fennel tea directly to your baby (1 tsp. before and after feedings) after it cools. Or a breastfeeding mother can drink it (1 cup three to six times per day). Fennel helps relax the gastrointestinal tract and get rid of gas.
